Requesting Material

Materials may be requested in person or in the Online Catalog. There is a maximum of 25 requests per borrower at any given time. The library will not send notices through standard mail when requested material is available for pickup, but borrowers may sign up to be notified by email or telephone.

Returning Material

All material may be returned at the Circulation desk or in the drop box at any Evergreen Library location. All material returned in the drop box before opening will be checked in as though returned the previous day.

Charges for Overdue Material

The Library charges a rate of $.25 per day per item for overdue materials. Once a borrower’s account has reached the maximum $10.00 limit; checkouts will be prohibited.

Notification of Overdue Materials and/or Fines

The receipt provided at the time of checkout serves as the official notice to the borrower of when materials are due.  As a courtesy, the library will also attempt to notify the borrower when materials become overdue.

Reminder Notices

Only borrowers who sign up for e-mail notifications will receive reminder notices. These messages are sent 3 days before an item is due, on the actual due date, and again 5 days after an item’s due date.

Overdue Notices

Borrowers who sign up for either e-mail or automated telephone notices will receive an overdue notice. If a borrower has not signed up for either notification method, no overdue notice will be sent.

After an item is 40 days overdue, it is considered lost and a user fee for lost materials is automatically charged to the borrower’s account.

Billing Notices

Borrowers with e-mail or telephone notifications will receive billing notices in the manner they have selected. Borrowers who have not signed up for either method will not receive billing notices through standard mail.
